Ryan E.'s Stanley in New Jersey!

We hosted Ryan's Flat Stanley for a long weekend. Here are pics from his trip.

Click here for a VERY cool Google Maps mash-up of his trip!!! (if you zoom in far enough, you can see photos of some of the actual streets and buildings from ground level - try the pizza place, for instance...)

Kieran's Stanley Goes International - to India!

Hi

My name is Udayan Sarin and I am Kieran's second cousin. When Stanley visited Kieran's grandmother in Dallas, she sent him all the way to India to visit the extended family here.

We enjoyed having him here and are sending back some images of a few famous places in and around New Delhi.

We went with Stanley to the Qutub Minar, the tallest tower in the world. Then we went to the Lotus Temple. It got its name because of its shape (like the lotus flower). Then we drove about 200 miles to the nearby city of Agra. There we saw the Taj Mahal, one of the largest tombs in the world built by a king for his wife (it's also one of the seven wonders of the world).

An interesting fact about New Delhi is that there are more people in New Delhi than there are in the entire state of Minnesota!

(PS It is too hot these days to actually go visit any of these places - temperatures are in excess of 44 degrees C or 115 degrees F!)

Will's Stanley Goes to Ohio!

Will's Stanley visits Findlay, Ohio (Flag City U.S.A.)

Findlay is the home of Marathon Oil Co.
, Cooper Tire, University of Findlay and Will's grandma!!

Since Will moved to Minneapolis, I have been lonesome so I was so pleased when I opened my mailbox and out popped Stanley!! What a happy guy! He always has a smile on his face:)

Stanley was so hungry after his trip through the mail so I took him to my favorite coffee shop, Tim Horton's. He enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate served by two waitresses and the baker.

Stanley
spotted Dietsch's across the street and asked me to buy him a chocolate ice cream cone with chocolate sprinkles. He LOVES chocolate!! Stanley asked for seconds but I told him that Mr. Knaus would not be pleased if he ate that much sugar.

He spotted the chocolate covered pretzels, (YES, CHOCOLATE AGAIN), and suggested that I buy the e
ntire class a chocolate pretzel, Will intends to bring them to school very soon.

Can you believe it? Stanley was still hungry!! We met Will's Aunt Trisha for lunch at Hunan Gardens, Trisha taught him to use chopsticks! He really did a great job! Stanley loves Chinese food!

After school, Will's cousin Kyle came to visit Stanley and decided to teach him how to play soccer! Kyle was a Findlay Varsity Soccer player and actually scored the final points to win two tournament games - so he is a pro!!

Kyle also taught Stanley to play croquet.

My father, Will's great-grandpa, was a great wood carver and Stanley played on one of his carved merry-go-rounds, rode a horse, rode the trolley, rode an antique bicycle, and was a conductor on the train.

He worked up quite an appetite... Just in time for a tea party with the bears. This kid is one active boy!!!

I am a retired music teacher and have 31 published compositions. My song, "Music and Kids" was chosen as the theme son
g for the "World's Largest Concert" and was sung by over five million students across the world in a PBS concert sponsored by the MENC.

Stephanie, Will's cousin i
s holding the original manuscript. I am sending you a copy of my song.

Stephanie also taught Stanley to sing and play the piano
and the accordion. Stanley finally gave a full concert with bear!! He received a standing ovation!! Stanley is truly a gifted musician!

Trisha, Kyle, Stephanie and I took Stanley on one last trip and we traveled through the states of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota. Be certain to add these states to your map!

It is time to send Stanley to Colorado to be with his Aunt Heather and Uncle Art.

Have fun, Stanley!! I will miss you!!

Joseph's Stanley Goes to Virginia!

Joseph’s Flat Stanley came all the way to Lynchburg, Virginia! While he was here, Flat Stanley enjoyed an end of winter snowstorm when he arrived that resulted in 10” of snow for our area. This is small compared to Minnesota, but a lot for us. Stanley enjoyed meeting our two cats, Heleena and Sydney. Stanley got to ride the bus. He also tried eating a southern speciality, grits. He wasn't too sure about them. He also enjoyed visiting Lynchburg College where is friend Joseph’s uncle works. HE thought that the area surrounding Lynchburg was beautiful, as seen in the pictures. He also enjoyed an adventure to Historic Williamsburg while Flat Stanley was here. Williamsburg is about 3 hours away from Lynchburg and is of great historical significance country’s history. He learned a lot about the Revolutionary War and what life was like during Colonial Times. He also visited Yorktown, where the last big battle of the Revolutionary War occurred. Flat Stanley was very impressed by George Washington.

He had a fun time and we’ll miss Stanley! But he must visit someone else and go on more adventures!
